When Is The Best Time To Post On Facebook, Twitter & Pinterest [INFOGRAPHIC]

best time to post on FacebookIf a tweet is sent in the evening but no one is around to read it, was it ever really tweeted?

According to this infographic, a tweet sent in the evening is not going to reach as many people as a tweet sent in the afternoon.

When updating social media you ideally want your posts to be seen by as many people as possible.

But how do you know when is the best time to post on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and other social networks?

Social Caffeine has gone to the effort of compiling research from all over the web into an insanely simple infographic.

It lists all the best times to post to the major social networks as well as which times you’re best to avoid.

You can use this infographic to help you set aside time during the day to engage your networks when they’re most active.

Or if you use a scheduling tool like Buffer, you can consult this infographic when scheduling your updates for the day to make sure you’re reaching the most people possible.

Here are some key takeaways:

  • The best times to post to these networks rarely overlap, so syncing your updates across all networks is a poor strategy.
  • If you want to make an impact on Facebook and Twitter you should dedicate some time to using social media during your lunch break.
  • If you want to build your business on Pinterest, try getting up early Saturday morning and start pinning.
  • Apparently there is a best and worst time to post to Google+, who knew? Ok, sorry for the Google+ bashing, I really believe it has a lot of potential!

Please note that the following times are in Eastern Standard Time.

Great stuff Matt! I was actually just discussing this with a partner of mine, planning when to send out posts and updates and when the best time was. This will definitely help!

    Thanks a lot! :)

I find Friday on Twitter to be very busy before 4 pm EST. It also depends who you are social with, some in other countries are on at “Non” peak times. I have used Social Bro and Buffer to help calculate the best for me. I would agree with the times on the other channels, I’ve heard a lot about pinning on Saturday a.m. I liked your infograph so much though I just pinned it now. Maybe the 8 pm crowd will start to repin.

Hey Lisa, thanks for sharing your experiences with peak social network times. As with any information you read it’s best to do your own testing and see what works for you because results are not typical for everyone. For example I made a Facebook post on my business page yesterday (Sunday afternoon) that had more engagement than anything I posted all week. I never would have predicted that! This infographic is a great guide but don’t be scared to post outside of peak times, every audience is different.
Thanks for commenting and pinning! :)

I don’t think that these results should be treated as global ones, each nation has its own routine, besides, the weekends differ, Sundays in the west, Fridays and Saturdays in the middle east…..

Thanks for your comment, Dima. What you’re saying is very true! That’s why I made sure to note that this infographic is specifically for the Eastern Standard time zone in North America. I wish I could have included information for all nations, but unfortunately I don’t have all those stats.
